I love Labor Day Weekend. There is nothing better than the last big holiday of the summer to put your feet up and enjoy family, friends, and neighbors. Since the weather is still hot in our area of the country (like really hot!), a Labor Day pool party is the perfect way to enjoy this classic American Holiday weekend.
My family loves to celebrate patriotism and having an all-American themed Labor Day party is one of our favorite things to do. Some of our best parties highlight all things red, white and blue!
Make Sure The Invites Are Right
My family usually goes with email invites when it comes to our Labor Day party. Let your guests know on the invite that you’re having an American themed party. They will need time to put together a festive dish to share or find the perfect American themed outfit to wear. If you are picky about email invitations, here are some ideas for Labor Day paper invites that should get any potential guest psyched up for the event.
Build A Classic Labor Day Menu
Labor Day is the last “unofficial” weekend of summer and may be the last time you’ll have an opportunity to BBQ before the busy school season begins. My family loves to serve lots of classic American dishes. Some great ideas for your Labor Day Party are:
- Grilled chicken/vegetable kabobs
- Hamburgers/cheese burgers/hot dogs
- Tomato Salad
- Coleslaw
- Macaroni and Cheese
- Baked Beans
- Mixed fruit salad
- Make-your-own ice cream sundaes
- Seasonal fresh fruit pies
- Red, white, and blue soda bar
Buy Lots of Decorations
Hit up your local party store and stock up on all things red, white and blue. Streamers, flags, paper plates (because any good Labor Day party needs to be casual), utensils, balloons, tablecloths, and straws all come in American colors. I have even seen people go the distance and create outdoor lighting out of red, white, and blue plastic cups! It’s very cool and looks great around the pool.
Plan Classic American Games For Kids
Keeping the kids happy is the key to any good Labor Day party. Toss red, white and blue diving sticks into the deep end of the pool for older kids and set up a kiddie pool for the little ones to enjoy. Teach the kids traditional games like the hula-hoop, musical chairs, and Marco Polo.
What About Games For Adults?
A U.S Trivia Game is always a hit at our parties. It’s hilarious to see how little or how much your friends and family know about our country. This is a game best played in two or three even numbered teams. Check out some more great games HERE.
When the party is over, you will need to clean up from the fun. Pack up to-go boxes, recycle your decorations, and fill your trash cans. After a long summer, your cans will be dirty and ready for a thorough cleaning. Let the Clean Cans team do the dirty work and get your trash cans ready for the year ahead.
