This year, Thanksgiving may look very different for your family due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a great celebration with your family! Mr. Clean Can has made a list of Thanksgiving activities that you and your family will love and get you in the holiday spirit!
Thanksgiving Trivia
Put your knowledge to the test with some Thanksgiving trivia! Do you know how many pilgrims traveled to America on the Mayflower? Or what year the first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade took place? If you don’t know these answers, you may want to brush up on your Thanksgiving knowledge! Just put questions like this together, and test your family to see just how much they know! If you don’t feel like putting your own questions together, you can purchase printable versions on Etsy!
TV & Movie Specials
Is it really a Thanksgiving celebration if you don’t watch even a few minutes of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?! This year’s parade is going to look a little different, but it is confirmed the show will still go on! If you want to keep everyone’s attention on the parade, you could even make a scavenger hunt for everyone to participate in. Another classic to throw on the screen for your family to watch together is A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving! Charlie Brown is sure to get you and your family in the Thanksgiving spirit!
Arts & Crafts
There are tons of fun Thanksgiving themed arts & crafts that you and your family can try out! If you have some paper, finger paint, googly eyes, and crayons, everyone can make their own hand turkey! Another fun turkey themed craft to try out is a Thanksgiving turkey paper plate wreath! It’s very easy to put together, and you can even use them to decorate your home! There is even a craft you and the family can make that helps you express your gratitude! All you need is green and orange construction paper, a sharpie, scissors and a stapler! All of this combined creates an adorable gratitude pumpkin! On each strip of orange paper, each person writes something they are thankful for.
Helping Hands
If you’re planning on making a wide spread of delicious food for everyone to eat on Thanksgiving, why not have your family pitch in and help you out?! If you have kids, this can help them learn how to cook and/or bake! Not only will you have the extra hands helping you out, but this will also leave everyone feeling proud that they contributed to the delicious Thanksgiving dinner! If you aren’t looking for help in the kitchen but need help elsewhere, ask for the family to help with setting the table and decorating the house!
Video Chat
If you have family and/or friends you would normally be spending this holiday with, but can’t due to current circumstances, just have everyone hop on Zoom! This will help you get the entire family together without the risk of someone getting sick. You could even do a lot of the activities listed above together virtually.
Whatever activity you decide on, we hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful Thanksgiving! If you have any activities to suggest, please let us know below!
