Rainy Day Activities for Your Family
Finding an activity to do with your family has been especially difficult lately due to COVID-19. However, when you add a rainy day on top of that, you become very limited on what you can do for fun. No need to worry though, Mr. Clean Can is here to cure you and your family’s boredom! He has come up with a list of his favorite rainy day activities to do with your family, and is ready to share them with you!
The perfect way to pass the time while waiting for a storm to pass is by playing games together as a family. The options for what you can play are endless, from a simple card game, to video games. One of our favorite board games to play on a rainy day is Codenames. Codenamegames.com describes the game as, “Two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their codenames. To win the game, your team will need to contact all of your agents in the field before the other team finds their own agents. And watch out for the assassin – meet him in the field and your team is done!”
Another great option for a rainy day game, is Jackbox. This is a video game, and you can purchase a “Party Pack” which includes a few different types of games, such as trivia, fill-in-the-blank, and so on. This game is available on multiple platforms such as the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Amazon Fire TV, and many others. According to jackboxgames.com, “To play, each player needs a phone or other web-enabled device to use as their controller. When you start a game, you’ll be given a unique room code on your screen. Just pull up Jackbox.tv on your device’s web browser, and enter the room code to play along.” Jackbox has a game for everyone, and we promise, once you start playing, you won’t want to stop!
Go Camping (Indoors)!
Turn your living room into an indoor camping area! You can have all of the fun you’d have with camping outdoors, and without the rain and bugs, which is a plus! If you have a pop up tent, you can set it up right in a room of your choice in your home. If you don’t have a tent, you can easily set up a pillow and blanket fort. Once your tent or fort is set up, bring the family in to play games, tell stories, or even watch a movie (another perk of camping inside)! Another crucial part of camping is making s’mores. You may be thinking it isn’t possible to do inside, however we have a solution! Amazon has indoor s’mores making kits available for purchase. Indoor camping is fun for all ages, and if you have kids, they will especially love it!
Bring Out Your Creative Side!
Make the most out of a rainy day by creating something new! There are so many different arts and crafts projects to do as a family. A go-to for arts & crafts is making slime. But, did you know you can make edible slime?! Popsugar.com has several different edible slime recipes that you and the family can try out. Not only is it fun, but if you’re making it with little ones, you won’t have to worry about them eating it, since it’s specifically made for them to eat! Another fun craft idea is to create and put on a puppet show with your family. If you have some old boxes laying around, you can easily turn them into a mini puppet theater, like this one featured on Bloesem Kids. They even have instructions on how to make your own puppets! The list of art projects you and your family can do on a rainy day is endless!
